Constitutional Government
We are living in a time when the government ignores the Constitution and our children are not being taught its significance. The President finds it inconvenient and the media find it obsolete. We need leaders who champion the cause of freedom and who are not ashamed to defend our rights. We must uphold the Constitution in our schools, our gun stores, our hospitals, our courthouses and our statehouse. This is freedom of the people by the people and it is us, the grassroots, who will defend liberty.
Pro-Life and Sanctity of Marriage
I am a Pro-Life conservative who will defend the rights of the unborn. I believe in the sanctity of traditional marriage (as defined by one man and one woman).
Illegal Immigration
NBC reports that, for the first time in 10 years, Texas now has more illegal immigrants crossing than Arizona. Texas needs a strong response to Washington’s failures to address the problems with our border security and our immigration system. We must ensure our law enforcement have the tools they need to do the job safely. We must stop the state benefits to those who have broken the law. We are a nation governed by laws and it is time to step-up and enforce the law regarding illegal immigration.
Property Tax Relief
Harris County property owners carry one the heaviest tax burdens in the state. Who taxes you? These entities do: Your local city, Harris County, your school district, Harris County Hospital District, Harris County Department of Education, Harris County Flood Control District, your Emergency Services District, a junior-college district, the Port of Houston Authority (for those Houston) and your Municipal Utility District. That’s a lot of government demanding YOUR money! We need these taxes to be low, fair and transparent. We need to hold these levels of government accountable for spending YOUR money. We also need a reduction in the appraisal cap to provide relief for families in District 129.
Education
Education is critical to raising a generation that is better off than our own. We need to keep quality teachers and stop rewarding schools that fail. We need curriculum that correctly teaches our history and not allow liberal anti-American curriculum to be forced upon our children. Keeping local control of our schools is one of the most important thing we can do and this includes the freedom of school choice.
Support Small Business
Because of excessive taxation and regulation, several small businesses are faced with closing their doors. I will fight for lower taxes and against intrusive government to keep our small businesses moving forward.
Too Much Government
Too often Washington thinks it knows better how to run our community and our lives than we do. We cannot allow such intrusions by an abusive government in Texas. We must fight for our rights guaranteed by the Constitution from gun rights to the right to life. We hold these values dearly in Texas and we must defend them. The EPA, the Department of Justice, Homeland Security, and the Union Labor Board have all been stepping on Texas. We need leaders to stand up to them and say enough is enough.
